MADA believes that the best way to end gender-based violence, is to prevent it from happening in the first place by addressing its root and structural causes. MADA has taken an about-face approach and has looked at how to educate the offenders rather than waiting to deal with the consequences. This certainly is an instance when the saying, “prevention is better than cure” can be applied. By no means does MADA advocate to these crimes that the offenders commit but quite the opposite, we are trying to go to the root cause and to provide offenders with emotional intelligence and coping mechanisms in these situations. We want to educate those that are taking these measures and acting out in violence. Our focus is based on a structured workshop that makes the offenders take responsibility for their actions.
